Motto
"For the love of Christ motivates us . . .

Second Corinthians 5:14&15

About the Church

Bethany Bible Church is a non-denominational Bible church focused on serious and thorough study of the Word of God. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God given to man as a handbook for life. Therefore it is necessarily the most important body of literature that man can study. Job said, "I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food." (Job 23:12 NKJV) God created man for a specific purpose and then gave him instructions to fulfill that purpose. The more familiar that we are with God and His instructions, the more successful we will be at fulfilling His purpose for us. The study of the Bible facilitates both the development of man's relationship with God and his success in life. Consequently, the study of the Word of God is the central activity at Bethany Bible Church.

Biblical Interpretation

The Bible cannot be studied in a vacuum if orthodoxy is to be maintained. As one man exclaimed when asked if he understood the scroll of Isaiah that he was reading, "How can I unless someone guides me?" (Acts 8:31 NKJV) The Word of God must be interpreted correctly to prevent heresy. God has not left the interpretation of His Word to amateurs. Rather, He has provided gifted men, pastor-teachers, to care for His Church and teach His Word under the ministry of God's Holy Spirit. Bethany Bible Church is blessed with a pastor-teacher who takes these responsibilities seriously.

Format

Bethany Bible Church meets to study the Word of God four times per week-Sunday morning (10:00 am), Sunday evening (7:00 pm), and Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7:00 pm). The auditorium is arranged in seminar fashion with tables and chairs to facilitate serious study of the Word of God. You will need your Bible. If you do not have one, we would be glad to provide one. Most people arrive at least one-half hour early for silent study and prayer. Just before the teaching session the pastor allows the congregation a few minutes for silent prayer and then prays aloud. Following approximately one-half hour of exegetical and expository preaching of the Word, the pastor again gives the congregation an opportunity for silent prayer, which he concludes by praying aloud. Bethany Bible Church kneels for prayer (Daniel 6:10; Luke 22:41; Acts 20:36).

Praxis

Bethany Bible Church emphasizes practical application, not mere intellectual knowledge, of Scripture. "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:22 NKJV) Bethany is for people who genuinely believe the Bible and genuinely strive to obey it. The members of Bethany endeavor to live the Christian life, which is characterized by godliness, Christian love, prayer, evangelism, and charity (Romans 12:1-21).
